Vegetable Gardening is easier in the Fall mostly due to the fact that there are fewer insects to contend with. With cooler weather coming you can grow cool season veggies such as cabbage, broccoli, lettuce and snap peas. Last Fall, the tomatoes in our garden never ripened. My neighbor spared our family from endless servings of fried green tomatoes with her green salsa recipe. The salsa was so yummy that we picked green tomatoes this past spring just to make the Sauce. That's the fun of growing your own veggies---have you ever seen green tomatoes at the Grocery store?
Herb Garden. Many herbs are perennial and evergreen, for example Cilantro used extensively in salsas and Mexican cooking fades away when the weather gets hot but thrives here in the spring and fall. I love a scratch and sniff garden myself, it's part of the whole sensual experience of gardening. Speaking of sensory delights, I have a friend who decided to chop up a bunch of herbs and put them in her bathtub for a relaxing soak. When she emerged from the tub her husband commented that she smelled like a pizza!
