Spring is when a young fish's fancy turns to love...
Much of the restless energy of spring comes from a primal urge to procreate, your fish are no exception. The early morning frenzy of splashing is caused by male fish chasing the egg-laden females. Once the female drops her eggs the male fish in hot pursuit will fertilize them. Be prepared for this natural activity with a spawning mat. Your expectant mother seeks out this perfect fish delivery room on which to deposit her eggs.
